It’s one of the most common questions we’re asked — and getting it wrong can be expensive.
Here’s a simple guide:
🔹 1–3 acres / large gardensA smaller compact tractor is usually ideal. Easy to manoeuvre, simple to store, and more than capable of routine maintenance.
🔹 3–10 acres / smallholdingsA mid-range compact tractor gives you more lifting power and versatility for attachments.
🔹 Equestrian yards / sports groundsLoader work, arena levelling and regular topping often require something more robust and reliable for daily use.
The right choice depends on:
• The jobs you’re doing
• How often you’ll use it
• Storage space
• Operator experience
